I come from a Singer family.
Just like my mother and grandmothers before me, I learned to sew on a Singer.
The machine that I use is the one that I got when I went off to college.
It's a very basic mechanical machine. No bells. Few whistles. Utterly reliable.
Still, there are some things that it cannot do. It doesn't handle fine fabrics - like georgette - at all well. It has no decorative stitches. It also weighs quite a bit.
So, I've ordered a second machine.
It's a Brother. Computerized and the whole deal. Quite a departure.
Note: I did not say that I'm "getting a new machine".
It's a second machine.
Those of you who sew know the difference.
